The process to acquire new technology and creating a request for proposal is expensive. You know the functionality you want but you may not know all the requirements you should be looking for. If your document has overlooked key requirements in the features and functions section, this can lead to project changes that can be even more costly to your company in the long run. Template RFPs shorten the time retailers spend researching new applications, and allow them to focus on finding the best software for their requirements.

These templates were created by members of ARTS (now the Retail Domain Task Force of OMG), which is comprised of retailers, consultants, and vendors of retail technology. The templates come in two parts: a sample master agreement that gives tips on contracting, and features and functions documents that can be easily sorted and edited by your team. All documents include guidance for where ARTS/RDTF standards should be required as well as extensive domain glossaries.

Master Agreement for Standard RFPs

[retail/18-01-01] - Offers guidance for scheduling and managing the RFP process, formatting vendor response documents and negotiating contract terms and conditions. Presented in the form of an instruction guide for the retailer to modify to their specific requirements; to be sent to all vendors with the relevant Functional Requirements section (below).

Business Intelligence

[retail/18-01-02] - A comprehensive list of functional requirements for selecting a Business Intelligence application to  leverage available information for tactical and strategic analysis purposes, improve information analysis capabilities and productivity while providing a roadmap for execution.

Cloud Computing Solutions

[retail/18-01-03] - A comprehensive list of features and functions to help retailers evaluate cloud computing solutions specifically for retail. Topics include security, reliability, migration and monitoring, to name just a few.

Distributed Order Management [DOM]

[retail/18-01-04] - Features and functional requirements to support order fulfillment in an omnichannel world. DOM systems differ from traditional order management by supporting order fulfillment from optimal locations with the objective of balancing the use of inventory, customer satisfaction and retailer costs.

LP Exception Reporting
